Thermostat Repair
Why Is My Thermostat Not Working Properly?
Have you noticed your thermostat running nonstop or adjusting temperature settings without your knowledge? There could be various reasons your thermostat is malfunctioning or not working at all. Some of those concerns include the following:
- Power source issue: Your home’s electrical system is the primary power source for your smart or Wi-Fi-enabled thermostat. If you’re experiencing problems with your electricity, you’ll likely also notice function issues with your thermostat.
- Dirty unit: A dirty thermostat can affect the calibration and cause your thermostat to use more energy than usual. As a result, you may see increases in your utility bill. Dust or dirt in your thermostat or internal parts like temperature sensors can affect the unit's functioning.
- Loose wiring or screws: A thermostat that turns on and off or runs without stopping could have loose wiring or screws. We don’t recommend tightening connections yourself or attempting to wire your own thermostat, as it may cause more damage. Our technicians use state-of-the-art tools to secure wires and screws.
- Age: Age plays a significant role in the operation of your thermostat. Most thermostats last around 10 years. If yours is nearing the decade mark, it’s time to contact our comfort specialists for a thorough inspection and potential repair.
- Placement: If you place your thermometer near a window, in direct sunlight, or in a drafty spot, its location can impact its temperature reading. The temperature sensors won’t read accurate internal levels, so your thermostat can’t respond accordingly. We can relocate your unit and install it in the best spot for accurate readings.
Our HVAC technicians can address these and other reasons for malfunctioning thermostats. We will inspect your system and determine root issues, resolving them using our expert techniques, advanced technology, and extensive experience.
